Meet the Venyu Management Team
Arthur "Smokey" Scanlan is the chairman of EATELCORP and its subsidiaries. As a third generation owner, Smokey became acquainted with the telecommunications industry at a early age. Working part-time at EATEL during his college years, he joined the firm on a full-time basis in May 1984. Over the years he has held various positions within the company, and has worked as an installer, repair technician, outside plant engineer, and personnel director.
John D. Scanlan is the chief executive officer of EATELCORP and its subsidiary companies. As a third generation owner of the company, John has deep roots in the telecommunications industry. He began his career as a teenager in 1979 and worked through college as an installer, repairman/wireman. In 1989, John was promoted to marketing products manager; four years later he was made responsible for the overall sales and marketing of EATEL's long distance, business communications systems, and telephone services. In 1994, John was promoted to executive president of EATEL and its subsidiaries. In 2011, Scanlan was named both president and vice chairman. In 2015, he was named chief executive officer.
Mr. Descant brings more than two decades of leadership experience to EATEL. As the President of EATELCORP, he is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company in all of its operations by working with senior management to establish long-range goals, strategies, and continued growth as a leader in the industry. Mr. Descant’s notable leadership as President of Sunshine Media and Upperline Media, as well as Executive Vice President of Product Development and Marketing at EATEL, has uniquely positioned him for his current role. His prior experiences include serving as VP of Operations for Local Matters (a local search technology company) and serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Descant received his bachelor of arts from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has previously served as a long-term board member for the Association of Directory Publishers, and currently serves on the board of the Tchefuncta Country Club, in Covington, LA. Peter Louviere is the company's Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Peter is responsible for planning, implementing and managing all aspects of the company's financial and treasury functions including taxation, forecasting, risk management and long range strategic planning. Peter has over 22 years of telecommunications experience with the company. Peter is a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Telecommunications Association. He also currently serves on several Boards including Special Eductation District No. 1 of Lafourche Parish as President and Chairman, the ALS Association of Louisiana/Mississippi as Treasurer, Restore or Retreat and the Golden Meadow LIONS Club. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a NASD Series 6 securities license. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounting and the Louisiana CPA Society. Peter holds both a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a masters of business administration degree from Nicholls State University.
As General Counsel, Janet Britton is responsible for guiding EATELCORP and its subsidiaries through a complex myriad of legal and regulatory issues. Janet has been in the telecommunications sector for over two decades and with EATELCORP for 18 years. Prior to joining EATELCORP, she was a staff attorney with the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Janet is past chairman of the Louisiana Telecommunications Association (LTA) and is currently a board member. She is also a former Organization for the Promotion and Advancement of Small Telephone Companies (OPASTCO) board member and former chairman of the NTCA - the Rural Broadband Association's Membership Committee. Currently, Janet is on the NTCA - the Rural Broadband Association's Industry and Regulatory Policy Committee, is a board member of the Ascension Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the City of Gonzales Industrial Development Board, and is Chairman of the East Ascension East Iberville School Partnership. Janet holds a bachelor of arts degree, a Juris Doctorate and a masters of business administration from Louisiana State University.
Kevin Phillips has been with EATELCORP and its subsidiary companies for over 16 years and has held several positions within EATEL, including Operations Support Systems Manager and Provisioning Systems Manager. As Executive Vice President, I.T. & Project Management, Kevin focuses resources on the strategic alignment of projects within our company and assists with mitigating risks. Kevin also assists in executing each task in compliance with EATEL's project management methodology by mentoring and guiding project managers.
As EATEL's Executive Vice President, Technology and Innovation, Harris drives the organization's technology and innovation strategy especially by helping to insert technology into existing programs as well as new business opportunities. Harris has been with the company for 17 years and has held several management positions including: Director of Network Services, Manager of Network Engineering, NOC Manager, and Manager of Customer Support.
With over 25 years of service to EATEL CORP and its subsidiaries, Toby's position as Executive Vice President, Residential Sales and Operations allows him to focus on making sure EATEL's suite of residential products continues to meet the needs of its customers. Most recently, Toby served as EATEL's Vice President, Products & Development, Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Business Services. Prior to that, he served as EATEL's Director of Marketing where he oversaw all residential marketing activities including product development, pricing, marketing and public relations. Toby has held numerous other positions at EATEL including Marketing Manager, Manager of Products and Development and various roles in Engineering. Toby holds both a bachelors degree from LSU and a masters of business administration degree from UNO.
Tressy Leindecker serves as Venyu's Executive Vice President, Business Sales and Marketing. As a sales leader with more than 20 years of management experience, she has led teams in several telecommunications organizations -- with a focus in cable, data, transport and telephony. Tressy has been responsible for the successful transformation of sales organizations, drastically increasing monthly performance and overall team bench strength. Tressy holds a bachelor of arts degree and often volunteers her time to give back to the communities she serves.
Gerry Boudreaux leads the datacenter design strategy for Venyu as Vice President, Datacenter Design/Construction & WAN Strategy/Peering. Prior to being named VP, Gerry oversaw the corporate network and virtualization infrastructure for Venyu’s datacenters and the team of network and systems engineers that support them. Gerry’s 20+ years in the IT industry include stops at US Robotics and Cox Communications, where he was manager of Data and Transport Engineering for their Greater Louisiana market. Gerry holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from LSU.
